The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. That and more in this week's report.
Welcome
Downingtown East brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (seven points) in the match before. It had all the answers against Unionville, winning 47 - 16. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Downingtown East as the clear winner. Thanks to its success, Downingtown East cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 23rd spot.
Can't Touch This
Williamstown got a 48 - 14 win over Shawnee last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Wade Inge. Inge rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns. That performance landed Inge among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Middletown (1st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and IMG Academy (1st) shaped up to be more of a takedown. There's no need to mince words: Middletown lost to IMG Academy, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 52 - 7. Unfortunately, Middletown could not reproduce its 34-point effort from the game before, which might not have made for a win but would have at least kept things closer.
Movin on Up
The Dover offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It came out on top against Smyrna with a 46 - 38 win. One star in particular for Dover was junior Javon Peace, who earned two touchdowns and 134 yards rushing the ball. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 12, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
