Highland Home was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 2A Region 3. The Flying Squadron defeated Georgiana 55-8 earlier in the week.
Goshen extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating McKenzie, 56-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
Elba's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Johnson threw for 131 yards and Shannon James had 96 yards receiving. On the ground Darrean Burks chipped in 45 yards. Burks helped Elba's passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
Elba's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1090 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while James has 21 catches for 396 yards. Burks leads the league in rushing with 501 yards.
Highland Home took down the Panthers 55-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
