Alicia Pawelec, a sophomore middle blocker for Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows, N.Y., has been named the MaxPreps/AVCA New York High School volleyball Player of the Week.
Pawelec earned the distinction after turning in an impressive week last week, in addition to helping her Patriots to a 19-7 record thus far in the season, which includes eight consecutive victories to date.
The 5-foot-9 force in the middle smashed 34 kills through six games last week, to average 5.7 kills per game. In addition, Pawelec fired in six service aces for the Patriots, to go along with five blocks and eight digs (1.3 dpg).
Lewis is coached by Arnie Rosenbaum.
