The power rankings have experienced a modest tune-up after last week's playoff battles. A special shoutout goes to Sutton's senior Brett Simonsen, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Sutton got a 46 - 21 win over Aquinas last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Brett Simonsen. Simonsen earned five touchdowns and 268 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Simonsen as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Millard West and Omaha Westside, 6th and 14th in the power rankings, respectively. Millard West didn't have too many spare points, but it still walked away with a 28 - 21 win. The victory raised it up two spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Scottsbluff and Roncalli Catholic went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (98) among all power ranked teams. Scottsbluff took its contest against Roncalli Catholic by a conclusive 60 - 38 score. As a result, Scottsbluff rose three spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Wahoo (5th in the power rankings) and Aurora (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Aurora and Wahoo both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Aurora with 11 and Wahoo with seven), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
