LOGANVILLE, Ga. - the Rams had a big 28-point first quarter on Saturday, sealing a 49-9 victory over Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.).
Grayson scored on a
David Fennell touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Wayne Gallman, a Gallman touchdown run and a touchdown pass by
David McTier to Gallman in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Fennell in the first quarter, GHS led 35-6 at the half.
The Loganville school expanded its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. The Rams' lone score in the quarter came on a
Jordan Germany touchdown run.
With the win Grayson extended its winning streak to eight games. GHS defeated the Broncos 42-13 last week.
Gallman stood out for the Rams in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.
Elijah Staley made a difference for the Wildcats. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.
Wheeler's lone touchdown came on a 54-yard pass from Staley to Emanuel Beal in the first quarter.
Led by
Robert Nkemdiche, Grayson had given up an average of 8.4 points prior to the contest. The nine points that WHS ended with were right around its average of 8.7 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Wheeler, which notched a 21-20 victory over Cherokee in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Marietta school's 2-game winning streak.
