However, that was enough for him to set the Indiana career record with 3,615 receiving yards over the past three years. The previous record of 3,607 had stood since 1996.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior already held the state – and national – record with 437 receiving yards in a single game.
Looking at those records, Dieter told MaxPreps, "I hadn't really thought about it, but I think hard work just paid off."
Coach Antwon Jones called the record "just another nice honor for Gehrig. Unfortunately, it came during another loss. I'm not surprised because I know his work ethic.
"He's facing a lot of triple teams. It's kind of hard to get him the ball right now. Early on, we had some injuries to our other wide receivers. Now we're trying to spread the ball around more."
Dieter revealed that he is very interested in attending the University of Oregon next year, but has not yet received a solid offer.
"I talk to their receivers' coach almost every week," he said.
