Kendall Bateman, a senior setter for Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Calif., has been named the MaxPreps/AVCA California High School volleyball Player of the Week.
She earned the honor after leading the Mustangs to a perfect 34-0 season, including, most recently, a California Division II State Championship.
This week in her team's 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) title match victory over No. 2
Archbishop Mitty, Bateman guided the top-ranked Mustangs' offense to an impressive .430 hitting percentage, setting the table with 33 assists. In addition, the senior leader added one service ace, two kills and five digs.
Mira Costa is coached by Lisa Zimmerman.
