This week's MaxPreps National Rankings presented by the Army National Guard look awfully familiar to last week's near the top.
Ohio power St. Xavier retained the No. 1 ranking, while California buzzsaws Mater Dei and De La Salle stayed at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. No surprise there, considering the three squads combined to dispatch their opponents 157-14 over the weekend.
The biggest mover and shaker toward the top was Georgia juggernaut Northside (7-0) of Warner Robins. The Eagles jumped seven spots to No. 4, and given some of the talk circulating in the Peach State, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them climb even higher.
Georgians are beginning to wonder if this Northside team, coached by Conrad Nix, might rank among the state's best ever. The Warner Robins school hasn't lost since December of 2005 and captured the state AAAA title last fall.
But back to 2007 - how about these numbers? Northside has.
- Outscored its opponents 263-23
- Held every opponent to seven points or less
- Held four of seven opponents to 100 yards total offense or less
- Scored 30 points or more in every game
- Won every game by 27 points or more
All-State candidates Marques Ivory and Tijuan Green are doing much of the damage offensively. Ivory has thrown for 929 yards and seven touchdowns, while Green has churned out 813 yards and 18 touchdowns on just 101 carries.
Ohio's Cardinal Mooney, a narrow winner over St. Vincent-St. Mary, rounds out this week's top five.

Jones has nine touchdowns on just 39 touches this season, averaging over 11 yards per opportunity.An injury to starting quarterback Justin Peters forced No. 16 Hamilton, Ariz., to employ superstar senior Gerell Robinson's skills all over the field. Playing quarterback and wide receiver, the University of Arizona commitment has thrown for 559 yards and four touchdowns, run for 354 yards and two scores and hauled in 18 passes for 400 yards and six more touchdowns.After beginning the 2006 season 1-2, No. 17 Marion Local, Ohio, has won 20-straight contests.No. 22 Bastrop, La., might be one of the more underappreciated power programs in the country. The Rams won their 36th-consecutive game Friday by cruising past Evangel Christian, 41-20. Like the program itself, quarterback Randall Mackey is flying under the national radar despite a remarkable high school career.Senior running back Chris Polk of No. 23 Redlands East Valley, Calif., is having another productive season. Polk, who was a 1,000-yard receiver as a junior, has rattled off four-straight 200-yard rushing games and has 1,140 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground for the season.No. 27 Amherst County, Va., is averaging 51.8 points per game this season and has topped the 60-point mark twice.With No. 33 Southlake Carroll dominating so much of the attention in Texas in recent years, the accomplishments of No. 32 Katy are often overlooked. The Tigers are 45-4 since 2004.It was a disappointing week (sarcasm intended) for the offense at No. 34 West Central, S.D. The Trojans put up just 21 points against Dell Rapids after a four-week stretch with outputs of 72, 57, 61 and 56.No. 42 Montini, Ill., has outscored its last four opponents 154-0 - that's right, four-straight shutouts. The Broncos have blanked five teams on the season and given up a total of just 51 points in eight games. Things will get a whole lot tougher Saturday against unbeaten Driscoll Catholic.The countdown is already on for Missouri's game of the year Nov. 2 between No. 8 Blue Springs South and No. 43 Rockhurst.No. 45 Dublin Coffman, Ohio, produced former Notre Dame and current Cleveland Brown quarterback Brady Quinn.Big game in Illinois Friday as No. 48 Naperville North takes on defending 8A champion Wheaton-Warrenville South. Both teams enter the contest with 8-0 records.
