Video: Prolific Prep 2016-17 previewCrew have lived up to preseason hype.Marty James of the Napa Valley Register reported Tuesday that
Prolific Prep Academy (Napa, Calif.) is canceling a game in Canada due to concerns over last Friday's executive order regarding foreign terrorist entry into the United States.
Prolific Prep (19-1) is ranked No. 4 in this week's MaxPreps Independent Top 10. The Crew's roster features players from Canada, Croatia, Ghana, Guinea, Mali and Nigeria.
But the heart of Prolific Prep's concerns lie with 6-foot-7 senior
Abu Kigab, a native of Canada that was born in Sudan – one of seven countries targeted by President Donald Trump's temporary travel ban.
"We don't want to put Abu in a position, where we go play one game, in Vancouver, Canada, even though he's Canadian, and then for some unforeseen reason, he's not allowed back in the country since he was born in the Sudan," Prolific Prep operations director Philippe Doherty said. "If Abu is not allowed back in the country, and he can't graduate high school, that affects his college eligibility."
Kigab is a Top 150 player in the Class of 2018 according to 247Sports. He is part of a Top 25 recruiting class headed to the University of Oregon next season.
Abu Kigab powers between two defenders at Flyin' to the Hoop in Ohio earlier this month.
