District boys basketball races enter the homestretch in all six classifications of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).
Here are a few of the most contentious TAPPS boys district basketball races to track the remainder of this season. (Win-loss records thru Jan. 23):
Class 6A
District 1: Prestonwood Christian (Plano), going for a fourth consecutive state title, is 15-8 overall and 6-1 in league play.
Bishop Lynch (Dallas) is lurking a game behind and is 23-7 overall. Four more pursuers are 4-3 in district:
Trinity Christian (Addison),
Parish Episcopal (Dallas),
Bishop Dunne (Dallas) and
Nolan Catholic (Fort Worth).
Game to watch: Bishop Lynch at Prestonwood Christian Feb. 10.

District 3: Concordia Lutheran (Tomball) has opened a bit of daylight with a 6-1 league record and is 22-7 overall. Challenges can still be mounted by 16-7
St. Thomas Catholic (Houston) and 20-7
Kelly Catholic (Beaumont). Both are 4-2 in league play.
Game to watch: Concordia Lutheran at St. Thomas Catholic Jan. 31.
Class 5A
District 5: San Antonio Christian (San Antonio) is 31-3, making it the first TAPPS team this season to reach 30 wins.
Saint Mary's Hall (San Antonio) is in second place with a 16-6 mark.
Game to watch: San Antonio Christian at St. Mary's Hall Feb. 3.
District 4: Regents (Austin) and
St. Michael's (Austin) are dueling for the crown.
Game to watch: St. Michael‘s at Regents Jan. 31.
Class 4A
District 4: A three-team race is developing between 19-4
The Woodlands Christian Academy (The Woodlands), 13-4
St. Thomas Episcopal (Houston) and 12-11
Northland Christian (Houston). St. Thomas was a state finalist last season.
Game to watch: The Woodlands Christian at St. Thomas Feb. 10.
District 1: Trinity Christian (Lubbock) and
Lubbock Christian (Lubbock) have fashioned impressive season records of 26-6 and 24-3, respectively.
Game to watch: Lubbock Christian at Trinity Christian Jan. 27.
Class 3A
District 5: An impressive season resume and a 17-6 record has
Our Lady of the Hills (Kerrville) pondering a long playoff run. District foe
Lutheran (San Antonio) is 21-9.
Game to watch: Our Lady of the Hills Catholic at Lutheran Feb. 3.
District 3: Top contenders include
Heritage Christian (Rockwall),
Yavneh Academy (Dallas) and
Covenant (Dallas). Yavneh (21-3) owns the best season record:
Game to watch: Heritage Christian at Yavneh Feb. 9.
Class 2A
District 6: Alpha Omega Academy (Huntsville) is 27-2 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Allen Academy (Bryan) is 19-10 overall and a game out of first in league standings. Another challenger is 12-8
Covenant Christian (Conroe).
Game to watch: Alpha Omega Academy at Allen Academy Jan. 27.
Class 1A
District 9: Lifestyle Christian (Conroe), state runner-up a year ago, is 23-8 and in a battle with 23-7
The Covenant Preparatory School (Kingwood).
Game to watch: Lifestyle Christian at The Covenant Prep Feb. 7.
