After losing to Hamilton the last time they met, Ethel decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Ethel took down Hamilton 26-8. The win was a breath of fresh air for Ethel as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Ethel got off to a slow start in their contest last week, but they had no such trouble against Hamilton and cruised to a 19-point first half. Meanwhile, Hamilton couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 19-0 heading into the break. Although Ethel wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
Sophomore Luther Clark was the offensive standout of the match for Ethel, as he rushed for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Kendal Dotson was in the mix, too, providing Ethel with 2 touchdowns. The victory bumped their record up to 1-5. The defeat dropped Hamilton's record to 1-6.
Next week Ethel take on Vardaman at 7:00 PM. Vardaman took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Ethel's good fortune. Hamilton will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against Sebastopol in two weeks at 7:00 PM.
