Huntsville (7-1) may have come out ahead in its last game, but it shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. This Friday at 7:00 PM, it is pitted against Magnolia West (8-0). Huntsville has the odds in its favor, so it won't want to drop the ball.
Huntsville went up against Brenham last week. Huntsville's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding Brenham to a measly zero points. That gave them a 3 - 0 advantage at the half. The offense wasn't without success either, scoring 23 points in the second half. That ultimately gave them a 26 - 14 win.
As for Magnolia West, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between it and Tomball last week. Magnolia West took its contest against Tomball last week by a conclusive 51 - 27 score. Junior John Matocha was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive five times. Matocha's longest touchdown was a 20-yard scramble in the second quarter.
Of course, Huntsville and Magnolia West can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
