SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana’s Concord High School and Illinois’ Sacred Heart-Griffin punched tickets to the adidas 7-on-7 national championship in Atlanta, Ga., by running the table on hallowed football grounds over the weekend.
Both Concord and Sacred Heart-Griffin went unbeaten Saturday and Sunday, winning their respective brackets at the adidas 7-on-7 Notre Dame Regional Tournament and earning a trip to the July 30-31 championship event at Silverback Stadium in Atlanta.
Sacred Heart-Griffin defeated Jacksonville (Ill.), 40-12, in one final while Concord edged St. Joseph (South Bend, Ind.), 21-20, in the other. Both games were played at Notre Dame Stadium.
The tournament was the second of five adidas 7-on-7 regional tournaments. Subsequent regional competitions will take place at University of Central Florida (June 28-29), Texas A&M University (July 10-12) and the University of Tennessee (July 18-19).
California schools Crenshaw and Upland advanced in the opening event in Los Angeles.
