Blessed Trinity has a real challenge coming up -- the hardest it has met all year. Both it and Cartersville have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Cartersville's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Blessed Trinity defense that got six sacks against Oconee County in its previous game.
Blessed Trinity can now show off seven landslide victories after its most recent game. Everything went its way against Oconee County last week as it secured a 35 - 0 win. One of the main ringleaders for Blessed Trinity was junior Jake Smith, who tossed the ball for 172 yards and three TDs. Smith also tagged on a 23-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
As for Cartersville, it kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It took its contest against Pickens last week by a conclusive 48 - 21 score. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Trevor Lawrence, who brought his A game into the contest. He threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns. This sound performance was nothing new for Lawrence, who has been a rock for Cartersville in the past 11 games. Senior Ej Turner was in the mix too, providing Cartersville with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Cartersville to 11-0 and Blessed Trinity to 9-2. With both Blessed Trinity and Cartersville swaggering in after impressive performances, we'll see which team will step up to teach the other some humility.
