Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.)
cornerback Ishmael Adams
committed to UCLA on Tuesday, giving Bruins' fans a late holiday present and a crucial piece of Jim Mora Jr.'s first recruiting class.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Adams chose UCLA over his other finalist, Cal-Berkeley.
""I prayed about it, talked it over with my family, and weighed the pros and cons about the two schools - Cal and UCLA; it just felt right to go with UCLA," Adams told the Whittier Daily News
. "I did it early to see if I can convince some players to change the program around with me."
Adams is the nation's No. 109 recruit and the nation's No. 12 cornerback. He immediately becomes UCLA's top-ranked recruit.
A teammate of Adams, wide receiver Jordan Payton
, remains one of the country's top uncommitted recruits. The No. 80-ranked player in the country, Payton, who was formerly committed to USC, is reportedly down to California and Notre Dame.
