Scioto Valley recap October 1, 2013
Southeastern scaled the state rankings by moving to 574 from 618 this week, the biggest jump in Scioto Valley. The Panthers were able to move up by topping Unioto 41-31.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Paint Valley beat Zane Trace 38-24. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bearcats.
Ryan Spencer provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Shermans fell to Southeastern.
Erique Hosley and Spencer gave Unioto a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Hosley threw for 27 yards, while Spencer ran for 207 yards. Teammate Dillon Binegar added to the ground attack by rushing for 118 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Piketon's Devon Brewster and Aaron Southworth have proven to be a lethal combination. Brewster has thrown for 490 yards this season, while Southworth, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 13 catches for 139 yards. Nate Mettler from the Pioneers leads the league in rushing with 418 yards.
The top two teams in Scioto Valley will face off this week when first place Paint Valley takes on second place Southeastern.
Adena was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league. The Warriors vanquished Huntington 27-0 earlier in the week.
