2A-1 Region III District 11 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Elkhart's Jeffrey Wilson rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A-1 Region III District 11 this season in his game against Grapeland last week. Wilson's team beat the Sandies as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 345 in all.
Austin Skinner and Aaron Mitchell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Groesbeck. The connection was good for 56 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Teague's dynamic duo of Skinner and Mitchell proved tough for the Goats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Skinner threw for 391 yards and six touchdowns and Mitchell had 178 yards receiving. Daryl Brooks helped Teague's passing attack out by catching three balls for 95 yards.
The Lions' Skinner and Mitchell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Skinner has thrown for 1150 yards this season, while Mitchell, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 28 catches for 463 yards. Elkhart's Wilson leads the league in rushing yards with 840.
Sam Wells's team moved up to 824 from 935 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region III District 11. The Elks were able to make the jump by beating Grapeland 49-2.Story is based on stats entered in MaxPreps by Tuesday 5am PST each week.
