Eastern recap November 13, 2013
Foothill moved up to 444 from 521 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Eastern. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of topping Red Bluff 48-14.
Enterprise added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Pleasant Valley, 49-12. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Hornets.
Chico's Clayton Welch and Miles Fishback led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Welch has thrown for 1,829 yards this season, while Fishback has 32 catches for 608 yards. Isaiah Matthews from Enterprise leads the league in rushing with 1,362 yards.
Going into this week's game against the Vikings, the Panthers' Welch needs 171 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
Welch of the Chico is only 69 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 117 carries Welch has accumulated 931 yard this year.
A big matchup in Eastern this week will be when Shasta takes on Foothill. As it stands, the Wolves are in third, while Joey Brown's team is in seventh.
Paradise took down Las Plumas 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Matt Machado ran for 177 yards during the win.
