There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to St. Pius X's junior Grant Gunnell, who scored seven total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Banging Down the Door
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 325-yard edge over your opponent, and Fort Bend Marshall had just that last week. It breezed past Texas City with a final score of 42 - 12. Fort Bend Marshall found its leader in an underclassman: Devon Achane earned three touchdowns and 202 yards rushing the ball, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. Thanks to its success, Fort Bend Marshall cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 23rd spot.
Have a Day
Langham Creek got a 49 - 31 win over Jersey Village last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Chris Herron. Herron ran for 212 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Herron among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (nine consecutive games). The final score between Crosby and Humble was a 59 - 20 blowout in Crosby's favor. The win raised Crosby up two spots in the power rankings.
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Langham Creek (14th in the power rankings) and Cy-Fair (9th). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (544 for Langham Creek and 426 for Cy-Fair), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
