S&S Consolidated made it official Monday morning naming Colleyville Heritage offensive coordinator Dan Pike as the Rams next athletic director/head football coach.

He replaces Jeff Hill, who stepped down from his position after two seasons.

Pike, who came to Colleyville Heritage when head coach Jerry Edwards was hired last offseason, helped the Panthers to an impressive 12-2 season in 2023, advancing to the 5A Division II Region I championship game where the Panthers fell to Frisco Emerson.

The Keller Fossil Ridge graduate began his coaching career at Waco La Vega befor taking a position on staff at Mansfield. Pike then moved back to Central Texas to Killeen Harker Heights where he spent nine seasons under coach Jerry Edwards, including the final six seasons as the Knights offensive coordinator. In 2022, Pike’s last season at Harker Heights, he was the offensive coordinator for a team that posted a 12-2 mark and advanced to the 6A Division II Regional Final, falling to eventual state champion DeSoto.

“I owe a lot of where I’m at today because of Coach Edwards," Pike said. "He’s been a great mentor to me and I’m fortunate to have spent the last ten years learning from him."

Pike, who plans on getting started Tuesday at S&S Consolidated, says he’s can’t be more excited about the opportunity. 

“S&S checked all the boxes for us," he said. "My wife is from a small town and that feels like a good fit. I’ve got two young kids so the chance for them to be at a smaller school and be involved in everything was attractive. I feel like this place is diamond in the rough.

“During the interview process, when I walked in the door and people were smiling and warm, it felt like it was a family atmosphere during the process and the administration echoed that during my interviews. A lot of times I’ve interviewed in larger districts it felt very business-like, S&S is just a warm place and on my second interview when my wife and I toured the facilities, we knew it felt right."

Pike says he’s ready to hit the ground running as he plans on having a busy summer.

“Number one, I’ve got to work on building relationships with kids," he said. "That’s’s the top priority. Then we’ve got to build relationships in the building with the teachers and in the community."
