Trey Jolly and Marcus Green provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lewisburg. The longest such play in 4A Region 2 this season, the connection resulted in 92 yards.
Senatobia's Tevin Wooten rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Lafayette last week. Wooten scampered for 85 yards on the play and finished with 144 on the day as his team lost to the Commodores.
North Pontotoc's dynamic duo of Jolly and Green proved tough for the Patriots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jolly threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns and Green had 195 yards receiving. Ben Shannon helped North Pontotoc's passing attack out by catching four balls for 103 yards.
Boston Newsome was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 31 carries, he ran for 214 yards as New Albany lost to Lewisburg. Baldon Jimmy also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.
North Pontotoc's Jolly and Green have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Jolly has thrown for 2265 yards this season, while Green, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 46 catches for 885 yards. The Bulldogs' Newsome leads the league in rushing yards with 1648.
Wooten of the Senatobia is only 15 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Wooten has rushed for 985 yards on 112 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lafayette takes on Brian Sutton's team. At the moment, Eric Robertson's team is in first, while the Vikings are in third.
New Albany extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Lions, 35-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
