Rio Linda was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. Everything went their way against Cordova on Friday as they made off with a 48-15 win. Cordova can consider this payback for the 33-34 loss they dealt Rio Linda the last time the teams encountered one another.
Rio Linda's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 34 points in the first half. Cordova came up with 9 to make it 34-9 heading into the break. The other side of the ball was dominant for Rio Linda in the second half, holding Cordova to a measly 6 points.
Junior Cameron Skattebo, who rushed for 205 yards and 1 touchdown, was a major factor in the success. Junior Johnny Serrano was in the mix, too, providing Rio Linda with 2 touchdowns. The victory bumped their record up to 2-1. Cordova are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Next week, Rio Linda take on Roseville at 7:00 PM. As for Cordova, they will face off against Rosemont.
