Kenny Boynton, a star senior guard at American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), announced his college choice Thursday night in a press conference carried live by ESPNU, picking the University of Florida.
Boynton, an honorable mention selection on the 2007-2008 MaxPreps All-American Team, is a pure scorer who should be able to provide a spark to the Gators’ offense as a freshman next season.
The 6-foot-2-inch guard averaged over 34.2 points per game last season for American Heritage after transferring late last summer from Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach.
Boynton enjoyed another successful summer playing AAU ball alongside another highly-coveted Florida guard, Pine Crest junior Brandon Knight.
Duke was also in the mix for Knight before he ultimately decided to stay close to home and sign on to play for head coach Billy Donovan.
