1A District 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Hazard extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 6 this week by beating Berea, 62-18. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Bulldogs.
Hazard led the league in scoring this week after putting up 62 points on the Pirates.
Harlan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ty Saragas threw for 307 and four touchdowns and David Allen had 189 yards receiving. On the ground Cody Logan chipped in 117 yards. Demarcus Williams helped Harlan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
On the ground, the Green Dragons' Logan has rushed for 796 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Allen. The Harlan star has 39 catches for 778 yards.
The top two teams in 1A District 6 will face off this week when first place Hazard takes on second place Pineville. Last week, Mark Dixon's team bested Berea, while Pineville beat Campbellsville.
Harlan's Saragas is within 98 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Williamsburg. So far this year, Saragas has thrown for 1902 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bulldogs take on the Mountain Lions. Hazard has allowed 197 points this season, while Pineville has given up 251. The Bulldogs allowed 18 points last week as they bested Adam Coleman's team.
