Manalapan will challenge Long Branch on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
Manalapan might be getting used to good results now that the squad has four wins in a row. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brick Memorial, sneaking past 31-28. No one put up better numbers for Manalapan than junior Nico Santorelli, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Santorelli's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games.
Last Friday, Long Branch put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season. Everything went their way against Wall Township as they made off with a 26-0 win. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Long Branch had established a 26-0 advantage.
Their wins bumped Long Branch to 5-1 and Manalapan to 4-2. In Long Branch's victory, senior Marc Dennis passed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns and junior Jermaine Corbett rushed for 61 yards and 2 touchdowns. We'll see if Manalapan have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
