Best Player: Andre Civil, Sr., DE, Sheepshead Bay

Many people think New York City is a potential gold mine for recruiters. Rutgers seems to think so; they already have a commitment from Andre Civil, who has the strength and athleticism to do it all at the defensive end position. Returning Stat Leaders – Passing: Ahmed Hassanien, Binghamton, 161-287, 2,260 yards; Rushing: Marquis Terrell, La Salle, 267-1,919 yards, 27 TDs.

Best Player All Time Player: Jim Brown,
Manhasset High School
Winning this award hands down, Jim Brown was a phenomenal athlete at Manhasset High School, lettering in multiple sports and excelling at both football and lacrosse. A nine time Pro-Bowl selection and three-time NFL MVP, Brown is considered by many to be the greatest running back ever, and perhaps the greatest football player of all-time.

2008 Must See: Floyd
How long can the Floyd High School winning streak go? The Colonials steamrolled all of their competition last year, going 11-0 and stretching their winning streak to 33 games. If head coach Paul Longo can manage to continue the streak and stretch it to 44 games this season despite losing many key pieces to last year’s title run, people across the country will definitely take notice.

On The Throne: St. Anthony
St. Anthony High School
has an unmatched record of dominance in the state recently. The Friars, out of Melville, have won an astounding seven consecutive CHSFL AAA championships. They have lost only three games in the last four seasons; two came at the hands of New Jersey power Don Bosco Prep while the other came last season against Mount Saint Michael, a loss that the Friars avenged with a 26-0 victory over the Mountaineers in the state finals.

Best Rivalry: Fordham Prep vs. Xavier
The two all-boys, Jesuit schools in New York City first met on Thanksgiving in 1886. Since then, the rivalry has blossomed into one of the most passionate yearly games anywhere. Xavier, located near the bustling Manhattan intersection of 16th street and 6th avenue, has to travel to Brooklyn just to hold football practice. Fordham Prep, a #4 train ride away, is located on the campus of Fordham University. The location of the “Turkey Bowl” is held in alternating locations.

Future Star: Will Fiacchi, Jr., QB, Marcellus

Will Fiacchi is primed for a huge junior season at Marcellus. As a sophomore, Fiacchi threw for 2,176 yards, completing 62 perdent of his passes. He racked up 25 touchdowns through the air, and only tossed 11 interceptions all season. At 6-3, Fiacchi projects well as a college prospect; another stellar campaign for the Mustangs will have recruiters knocking down his door.

Fun Fact
Dominick LeGrande helped put Staten Island football on the state map last year. He was the catalyst to Curtis High School’s domination of the forgotten borough, and he led a game-winning drive against Canarsie to capture a PSAL Bowl title. LeGrande, who many people in the area felt could have thrived at any school in the tri-state, will be at Boston College this season. This season, the Warriors will rely on speedy running back Naykwan Johnson to maintain their winning ways.
