A pair of 400-yard passing performances by Andy Magee of Chadwick and Matt Barkley of Mater Dei highlight this week's Top Performances in California for Week 6.
Passing
Andy Magee, Chadwick, had his third 400-yard game of the season, throwing for 453 yards in a 54-13 win over Webb. He completed 25 of 36 passes with seven touchdowns. Magee has a state best 34 touchdowns on the season and has thrown for seven TDs for two straight weeks.
Matt Barkley, Mater Dei, kept the Monarchs undefeated with a 424-yard effort in a 56-0 win over JSerra Catholic. Barkley was nearly perfect in completing 21 of 23 passes with five touchdowns.
Tanner Rust, El Capitan, threw for 253 yards and had 22 completions in 34 attempts with one touchdown in the Vaqueros 34-31 loss to Grossmont.
Cary Grossart, Folsom, leads the Sacramento area in passing after throwing for 289 yards in a 35-21 loss to Jesuit. He completed 34 of 67 attempts in the loss with two touchdowns. His 67 attempts fall one short of the state record of 68, according to the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book.
Robert Fuller, Arroyo Valley, tossed four touchdown passes in a 43-13 win over San Gorgonio. He completed 17 of 24 passes for 303 yards.
Tyson Perez, Hanford, led the Bullpups to their third straight win with a 311-yard effort in a 28-18 win over Tulare Western. Perez completed 22 of 27 passes with two touchdowns.
Adrian Perez, Franklin, led his team to its fifth straight win by completing 13 of 22 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown.
Kramer Hagan, Capital, had one of his best outings of the season in a 59-6 win over Encina as he completed 11 of 13 passes for 233 yards and five touchdowns.
Zach Kaplan, Campbell Hall, erupted for 370 yards and one touchdown in a 54-34 loss to Whitter Christian. He completed 22 of 35 passes in the loss.
Caleb Herring, Citrus Hill, kept the Hawkins undefeated with a five-touchdown effort in a 46-14 win over Banning. He completed 17 of 25 passes for 267 yards.
Michael Alcala, Hilltop, turned in one of the top effors in the San Diego Section this week with 308 yards and four touchdowns in a 27-23 win over Montgomery. The 6-foot-5 senior completed 18 of 27 passes with no interceptions.
Peter Mitchell, Bakersfield, lifted the Drillers to a 7-1 record with a 56-12 win over Golden Valley. He completed just 5 of 6 passes for a whopping 215 yards and three touchdowns.
Dayne Crist, Notre Dame, had his highest touchdown total of the season in a 33-6 win over St. Francis, tossing four scoring passes and connecting on 17 of 25 aerials for 253 yards.
Cody Vaz, St. Mary's, propelled the Rams to a 66-6 win over Stagg with 216 yards (10 of 15) and three touchdowns.
Alex Beaton, Western Christian, edged Riverside Christian 37-33 by throwing for 329 yards and three touchdowns. The sophomore completed 19 of 23 passes with no interceptions.
Jake Peterson, Bakersfield Christian, has made a nice move from wide receiver to quarterback. He completed 13 of 26 passes for 273 yards and a season-high three touchdowns in a 28-0 victory over Shafter.
Donnay Ragland, Artesia, threw for 227 yards while completing 11 of 23 passes in a 17-12 loss to Mayfair. He also ran 13 times for 67 yards.
Anthony Cukar, Del Mar, had one of the top efforts in the Central Coast Section this week, completing 19 of 28 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-14 win over Santa Teresa.
Graham Wilbert, Valencia, lifted the Vikings to a 63-14 win over Golden Valley. The 6-foot-5 senior completed 15 of 16 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Isaac Valdez, San Gabriel, led the Matadors to a 42-32 shootout win over Bell Gardens by completing 17 of 24 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns.
Mike Bundy, El Segundo, had his highest yardage total of the season in throwing for 305 yards. The sophomore completed 28 of 41 passes and two touchdowns in a 42-13 loss to Torrance.
Matt Goggans, Amador, helped the Buffaloes edge Linden 28-27, by completing 16 of 36 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns.
Richard Brehuat, Los Oso, completed 18 of 33 passes for 276 yards and three scores in a 29-26 loss to Etiwanda.
Jordan Wynn, Oceanside, came up big in a 31-7 win over Carlsbad by completing 17 of 28 passes for 223 yards.
Ryan Griffin, Chaminade, threw for 273 yards while completing 19 of 37 passes with a touchdown in the Eagles' first loss of the season, a 17-7 defeat at the hands of the Loyola Cubs.
Steven Batista, Wilson, collected 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 25 of 51 passes in a 41-27 loss to Marshall.
Miguel Rodriguez, El Monte, completed 22 of 31 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown in a 19-14 loss to Arroyo.
Colter Angstadt, Herlong, completed 13 of 33 passes for 383 yards and six touchdowns in an 82-40 8-man loss to Princeton.
Rushing
Ily Lopez, Avenal, has been on a tear in his last three games, rushing for 992 yards in that time including 206 yards on 31 carries with three touchdowns in a 20-14 win over Laton.
Kenjon Barner, Notre Dame Riverside, carried just 29 times (after averaging 50 his past two games), but ran for a season-high 369 yards in a 35-0 win over Laguna Beach. He also scored a season-high five touchdowns in the win.
Adrian Pacheco, Selma, led the Bears to a 40-8 win over Exeter with 283 yards on 27 carries and five touchdowns.
Deonte Williams, Pleasant Grove, lifted the Eagles to a 38-6 win over Florin by rushing 33 times for 258 yards and three touchdowns.
Marselius Williams, Grant, rushed just 15 times for 203 yards and two scores in a 61-0 win over Kennedy.
CJ Woodbury, Foothill, had the top performance in Sacramento this week with 40 carries for 368 yards and three touchdowns in the Mustangs' 34-13 win over River City.
Ricky Seale, Escondido, went over 200 yards for the third time this year, rushing for 219 yards on 15 carries with four touchdowns in a 55-20 win over Orange Glen.
Terrance Dailey, Vacaville, kept the Bulldogs undefeated with 241 yards on 13 carries and five touchdowns in a 49-7 win over Armijo.
Christopher Polk, Redlands East Valley, ran the ball just five times but gained 214 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also had a 73-yard reception in a 42-0 win over Fontana.
Christian Johnson, Horizon, led the Panthers to a 36-15 win over Parker by running 25 times for 300 yards and two touchdowns.
Nick Kalpin, Los Gatos, topped 200 yards for the fourth straight week, gaining 213 yards on 23 carries with five touchdowns in a 56-21 win over Los Altos.
Guillermo Rodriguez, Princeton, ran 21 times for 319 yards and seven touchdowns in an 82-40 8-man win over Herlong. Rodriguez also ran back an interception 70 yards for a score to finish with eight touchdowns.
Ryan Zirbel, Saugus, had his best outing of the season in a 35-6 win over West Ranch, running for 237 yards on 20 carries with four touchdowns.
Lawrence Walker, Christian, carried 31 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-6 win over Santa Fe Christian.
Ebahn Feathers, Washington Union, ran for 278 yards on 37 carries one week after throwing for 300 yards. He scored three touchdowns in the 25-14 win over Chowchilla. Feathers is just 19 yards away from a 1,000-yard rushing and passing season.
David Trifeletti, Oak Ridge, led the Trojans to a 45-14 win over Galt by rushing 17 times for 222 yards and three touchdowns.
David Henderson, Lincoln, went over 1,000 yards on the season by rushing 25 times for 210 yards in a 32-8 win over Balboa.
Scott Seward, Clovis Christian, ran 22 times for 247 yards with four touchdowns in a 51-40 8-man win over Anchorpoint Christian.
Dustin Travers, Hillcrest Christian, ran 26 times for 265 yards and five touchdowns in a 69-41 loss to Windward.
Receiving
Donnie McWhirter, Western Christian, caught 13 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-33 win over Riverside Christian. He also ran five times for 25 yards and a score.
Mike Evans, Herlong, caught 11 passes for 356 yards and six touchdowns in an 82-40 8-man loss to Princeton. The 356 yards and six touchdowns each rank second on the all-time national list according to the National Federation of High Schools record book.
Javier Miranda, San Gabriel, caught 10 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in a 42-32 win over Bell Gardens.
