One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. Part of the action? A towering 104-point combined score for Clear Fork and Galion.
Can't Touch This
Mentor got a 45 - 6 win over Shaker Heights last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Brian Trobel. Trobel earned four touchdowns and 159 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Trobel one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
The Kenston offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It blew past Riverside 42 - 14. Kenston had two big standouts, as junior Jack Porter ran for 176 yards and snatched up three receptions, while junior Jon Tomcufcik threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by eight, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between St. Edward (ranked 7th in OH) and Cathedral (ranked 9th in IN). St. Edward took its contest against Cathedral by a conclusive 39 - 14 score. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since St. Edward actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another victory last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (eight consecutive games). McKinley had all the answers against Jackson, winning 49 - 28. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected McKinley as the clear winner.
