When you think of greatness, you think of a person that can withstand the pressure, and overcome obstacles that are put in front of him. I was on the verge of greatness today in my competition with Mike in Madden 2007. If you have been paying attention to the Madden ticker, then you would know that Mike was ahead of me 3-1 at the beginning of the day. By the end of the day, I, Christopher Stonebraker, had a 4-3 lead, and made "GREAT" my middle name.
The Background: Last week Mike had been saying that he didn't really want to play Madden much, so I let him win the next few times in order to get his interest up. Today, he challenged me, and I told him that I wasn't going to play anymore, and ladies and gentlemen, I didn't. The last game was one for the memories books. I was up 21-20 with 12 seconds left when Mike scores on a one yard run. He makes the field goal and goes up 27-21. Instead of kicking it deep to me, and giving me a chance to return it for a touchdown, Mike kicks an onside kick. Mike's problem was that he did not kick the ball far enough in order to pick it up, and in turn gave me the ball on the 33 yard line with a full 12 seconds still on the clock. First play, and I went deep to Reggie Wayne. He did not catch the ball, but there was a pass interference on the play, and I got the ball at the 9 yard line. Next play, I threw an incomplete pass, which left me with 3 seconds on the clock, and one play to win the game. I went for a fade to the corner with Stokely, and it ended up being the game winner. After I made the extra point, I had the game in the bag, with a final score of 28-27.
This was our day today, and man was it great!!! Madden and eating, can't getting any better than this. Actually, it can, and it will, so keep tuning in to find out what goes on in the Journal of our Lives.
