Paducah (2-8) may have come out ahead in its last game, but it shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. It and Knox City (7-2) take on one another this Friday at 7:30 PM on Paducah's home turf. Both teams enjoyed a wide margin in their previous games.
A win looked likely for Paducah given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, but it did even better than expected last week. The final score between it and Rotan last week was a 85 - 36 blowout in Paducah's favor. Paducah's offense might have been extra motivated to turn things around after difficulties scoring in its previous game.
As for Knox City, it can now show off seven landslide victories after its most recent game. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Spur last week, finishing up at 80 - 30. With four TDs, senior Brady Hawkins was a significant factor in the success. Hawkins was also an imposing presence on the defensive end with 16 tackles. Another highlight for the team was the 307 passing yards from sophomore Abraham Nevarez.
The last time they met, the final might easily have been mistaken for a basketball score. Knox City hopped past Paducah 78 - 62. Can Knox City repeat its success? We'll find out this Friday.
