MaxPreps.com Staff Report
MaxPreps will team with CSTV to provide coverage of Matt Centrowitz' quest for history tonight, as he attempts to become just the fifth high school runner in history to dip below the four-minute mark in the mile in Bloomington, Ind.
The Broadneck High phenom - headed to the University of Oregon next fall - captured three-straight state cross country titles in Maryland during his career and posted the fastest mile and two-mile times in the nation this spring. He is considered a prime prospect for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Centrowitz' father, Matt, Sr., is the head cross country and track and field coach at American University. Matt, Sr., was part of the University of Oregon's 1977 national championship cross country team and broke the legendary Steve Prefontaine's school record in the 1,500 meters.
Check back tonight as MaxPreps and CSTV follow Centrowitz' bid for a sub-four minute mile.
