Patterson has a real challenge coming up -- the hardest it has met all year. Both it and Vista del Lago have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Patterson has been tearing up the end zone with big points in its last seven contests.
Patterson has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling seven) after its most recent game. It crushed East Union last week, winning 63 - 28. Senior Kendrick Bond was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive three times.
As for Vista del Lago, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was exactly its strategy in dealing with Cordova last week. Vista del Lago had all the answers against Cordova, winning 49 - 20. Senior Dominick Norris continued his outstanding stretch of play as he rushed for 171 yards in the victory, marking his 11th consecutive game with over 100 yards rushing. Norris's longest touchdown was a 45-yard scramble in the third quarter. Norris has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past ten consecutive games. Junior Chad Wilson banked an additional two TDs for the team.
Their wins bumped Patterson to 10-1 and Vista del Lago to 7-4. Both Vista del Lago and Patterson are bound to feel confident after their prior matchups, but one team's ego will take a hit. We'll find out which one when the teams meet up this week.
