Cass Tech (Detroit, Mich.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 11 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 21-14 victory over
Saline (Mich.).
The Technicians were up 7-3 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter.
Cass Tech expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. CT's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run.
The loss snapped the Hornets' 7-game winning streak.
Gage Hammond played well for Saline. The senior wide receiver kicked two field goals. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
SHS's lone touchdown came on a 36-yard run by
Tyler Palka in the fourth quarter.
Led by
Jourdan Lewis, the Detroit school had given up an average of 11.2 points prior to the contest. The 14 points that the Hornets ended with were well below their average of 35.0 coming into the game.
With the win the Technicians extended their winning streak to four games.
