Keep an eye on the score for this one: both Woodland and Placer put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they play one another this week. Woodland put the hurt on El Dorado last week with a conclusive 56 - 17 victory. As for Placer, everything went its way against Natomas as it secured a 53 - 6 win.
Woodland got an early lead and maintained it, starting each quarter with an advantage. Two standouts for it were senior Martin Vazquez III and senior Christian Stice; the former rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns while the latter tossed the ball for 195 yards and three TDs. The win bumped Woodland's record up to 7-4.
Meanwhile, Placer might be getting used to wins now that the team has gotten nine in a row. It got the good result in part due to two touchdowns from junior Marshall Chapman, who has now contributed at least one touchdown in the past eight games. Senior Mario Perez was in the mix too, providing Placer with two touchdowns. Perez should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Placer in the past nine games. Placer remains undefeated at home and rose to 10-1.
The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (411 for Woodland and 507 for Placer), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
