Vista Grande might have drawn first blood against Apache Junction on Friday, but it was Apache Junction who got the last laugh. Vista Grande didn't finish too far behind, but the team still lost 33-39 to Apache Junction. The matchup was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but Vista Grande were outplayed the rest of the way.
Vista Grande's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Eddie Villegas, who passed for 239 yards and 4 touchdowns. One of the biggest moments in the game was Villegas's TD pass to Jace Atkins for 73 yards in the second quarter. Senior Anthony Giles was in the mix, too, providing Vista Grande with 2 touchdowns. The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 2-2.
Next week Vista Grande take on Washington at 7:00 PM. Apache Junction will have some time to rest before their next match, which is against Shadow Mountain in two weeks at 7:00 PM.
