Bear River (Grass Valley, Calif.) jumped out to an early lead against
Union Mine (El Dorado, Calif.) and never looked back on the way to a 27-7 victory on Saturday.
The Bruins scored six points in the first quarter. Bear River scored on a rushing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, BR was up 12-0 at the half.
The Grass Valley school grew its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bruins scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Union Mine's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
Union Mine (0-2) will play a non-conference game against Colfax next week, while Bear River (1-0) will take on Woodland also in a non-conference game.
