Class 6A
ÿ
District 6A-1:ÿ This district has essentially become a five-team race for the four playoffs spots. Mustang, Lawton, and Norman North all head into Week 9 with 4-1 records within the district. It appeared Lawton was heading toward taking command in this district until Moore spoiled the party for the Wolverines with a 28-25 upset Oct. 19.
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ
Edmond Santa Fe and Moore are 3-2 and looking to vie for fourth and final playoff spot.
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ
Game of the Week: Norman North at Lawton. Norman North, behind the super sophomore duo of Beau Blankenship and Tyler Tettleton, have won four out of five. Lawton handed Mustang its only loss on the season in dramatic fashion, 51-45. Lawton trailed 42-17 before rallying for the victory.
ÿ
District 6A-2:ÿ Norman and Westmoore are running away with the district and appear to be headed on a collision course to end the season on Nov. 3, when Norman visits the Jaguars.
ÿ
Four teams are looking to emerge from a logjam for the final two playoffs spots. Lawton Eisenhower is third in the district at 3-2, one game ahead of Midwest City, Putnam City, and Edmond Memorial.
ÿ
Game of the Week:ÿ Putnam City at Edmond Memorial. This game could create some separation between the three teams with 2-3 district records.
ÿ
District 6A-3:ÿ Stillwater has quietly joined Tulsa Union in the race to take control of the district. Stillwater and Union are 5-0 in district play. Broken Arrow appears to be comfortably set in third at the moment at 4-1, but is hoping either Stillwater or Union falter toward the end.
ÿ
Enid and Edmond North both sit at 2-3 in district play, while Ponca City and Tulsa Memorial are not eliminated at 1-4.
ÿ
Game of the Week: Tulsa Union at Stillwater. This will likely decide who will walk away with the top seed in the district. Union has rattled off five-straight victories, while Stillwater's only loss of the season was to Owasso, 16-13, in its season-opener.
ÿ
District 6A-4:ÿ Four teams are 4-1 and playing for seeding. Jenks, Owasso, Muskogee, and Tulsa Washington all are among the Top 10 teams in Class 6A in the state's toughest district.
ÿ
Muskogee shook up the district standings with their 12-0 upset over Washington, who was ranked first in the MaxPreps State Rankings heading into Week 8.
ÿ
Game of the Week:ÿ Muskogee at Owasso. If Owasso is to be taken seriously in the District 6A-4 race, they must start with a home victory over Muskogee. Nov. 3, the Rams will face Washington. It's put up or shut up time for Owasso.
ÿ
Class 5A
ÿ
District 5A-1: Five teams enter Week 9 with playoff aspirations, led by Lawton MacArthur at 5-0. Ardmore is 4-1, while Duncan, Altus, and Chickasha stand at 3-2.
ÿ
Game of the Week: Chickasha at Duncan. Duncan left Oklahoma City's Taft Stadium extremely disappointed with their 13-6 victory over 1-4 Northwest Classen after failing to score an offensive touchdown. If Duncan are to be playoff bound, they need to beat Chickasha.
ÿ
District 5A-2: Carl Albert (Midwest City) and Guthrie have already locked up bids. El Reno and Woodward sit at 3-2, while Southeast (Oklahoma City) and Noble at 2-3.
ÿ
Game of the Week: Carl Albert at Guthrie. Carl Albert, led by super-sophomore running back David Oku, averages 48.2 points per game. Guthrie allows just 4.8 including four-consecutive shutouts.
ÿ
District 5A-3: Bixby sits alone at 5-0, while Ada checks in at 4-1. McAlester and Durant could use a win, as they have 3-2 records. Hale (Tulsa) and Shawnee are still alive at 2-3.
ÿ
Game of the Week: Ada at Shawnee. Shawnee have been smarting since the loss of star quarterback Tucker Brown to injury early in the season. They are still alive for a playoff berth, and could use an upset victory over Ada.
ÿ
District 5A-4: East Central (Tulsa) is a perfect 5-0, while Coweta and Bishop Kelly (Tulsa) are 4-1.ÿ Rogers sits at 3-2, while Catoosa still is breathing with a 2-3 record.
ÿ
Game of the Week: Rogers at Bishop Kelley. Rogers could do themselves a huge favor with a victory over Bishop Kelley. A loss could mean no playoffs for the Ropers.
