I-70 recap September 10, 2013
Lone Jack moved up to 207 from 267 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in I-70. The Mules climbed the ranks as a result of beating King City 27-20.
Orrick lost to Concordia 63-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lone Jack's dynamic duo of Joey Brandon and Nick Kirk proved tough for the Wildkats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brandon threw for 139 yards and Kirk had 59 yards receiving.
Jason Fenstermaker's team's dynamic duo of Brandon and Kirk proved to be unstoppable against King City, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Ethan Matthews was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 134 yards on 17 carries as Crest Ridge bested Micah Breckenridge's team. Teammate Justin Donald added to the ground attack by rushing for 110 yards.
Kirk was the best receiver in the league this week as Lone Jack beat the Wildkats.
Brandon put up the best numbers in passing as the Mules topped King City.
An important game coming up in I-70 this week will be when Lone Jack takes on the Cougars. At the moment, the Mules are in second, while Crest Ridge is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Lone Jack and Chris Cavanah's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Mules comes in having scored 29 this season, while the Cougars have scored 76. Lone Jack scored 27 points last week as it bested the Wildkats.
The Mules made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,903 from 12,309. The improvement was the result of 27-20 victory over King City last week.
