While gaining a playoff berth remains every team's priority, the gold football trophy for a district title is a welcome addition to a school's trophy case.

1. Independence (Frisco) 8-1 at Lone Star (Frisco) 8-1, 7 p.m. FridayLone Star, which features Utah pledge
Jason Shelley (34 touchdowns, 3033 total yards) at quarterback, is looking to improve on its 6-0 record in District 13-5A. Independence is close behind at 5-1 thanks in part to senior running back
Dominic Williams (1,865 rushing yards, 28 touchdowns).

3. Sweetwater 7-1 at Greenwood (Midland) 7-1, 7:30 p.m. FridayBoth teams are 4-1 in District 2-4A-DII. Sweetwater senior
Chris Thompson has thrown for 1,872 yards and 23 scores. His Greenwood counterpart,
Ben Brockman, has passed for 1,652 yards, rushed for 824 and had a hand in 30 touchdowns.
4. Port Arthur Memorial (Port Arthur) 8-0 at Vidor 7-2, 7 p.m. FridayMemorial improved to 7-0 in District 22-5A and grabbed a share of the title in last week's 49-10 victory over Lee (Baytown).
Elijah Hines on four carries rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Vidor, 6-1 in district, leans on running back
Kolbie Humble and
Haylon Leckelt.
5. Hebron (Carrollton) 7-2 at Carroll (Southlake) 8-1, 7:30 p.m. FridayHal Wasson's Dragons have reeled off eight wins since dropping their opener and are 6-0 in District 5-6A behind running back
Audricke Gaines (1,014 yards, 15 touchdowns). Hebron is 5-1 in league play due in part to junior
Clayton Tune's 24 touchdowns and 2,021 passing yards.
6. Dumas 8-1 at Amarillo 6-2, 7:30 p.m. FridayThe District 3-5A co-leaders are 5-1 and this game will be for the title. Dumas quarterback
Noah Quintanilla threw for one touchdown and ran for another in last week‘s 33-7 playoff-clinching victory over Hereford.
David Vasquez leads a balanced Amarillo offense with 784 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
7. Brennan (San Antonio) 6-3 at O'Connor (Helotes) 8-1, 7 p.m. ThursdayThe District 28-6A title will be decided between two teams with 5-0 league records. Junior
Jahmyl Jeter has rushed for 1,249 yards and 14 touchdowns for Brennan. Junior quarterback
Roel Sanchez leads O'Connor with 2,251 total yards and 27 touchdowns.
