Conemaugh Valley will challenge Portage on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely !) with wins against their previous opponents.
Conemaugh Valley had a rough outing against Windber two weeks ago, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Conemaugh Valley narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Berlin Brothersvalley 34-32. No one put up better numbers for Conemaugh Valley than senior Bryce Mccleester, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mccleester has been a consistent playmaker for Conemaugh Valley as this was the 6th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, Portage might be getting used to good results now that the squad has three wins in a row. They skirted past Meyersdale 35-32. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
Their wins bumped Portage to 6-2 and Conemaugh Valley to 4-4. Portage caused 4 turnovers against Meyersdale, so Conemaugh Valley will need to take especially good care of the ball.
