Cedar Hill began the season as the nation's No. 1-ranked team. On Thursday night, it played like it, defeating DeSoto in a battle of nationally ranked teams.
As a result, Cedar Hill enjoyed a nice jump in the rankings while Skyline, the only team to defeat Cedar Hill this year, also received a considerable boost in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
Skyline moves into the Top 10 at No. 7, while Cedar Hill sits just outside at No. 11.
DeSoto falls slightly to No. 18.
The state's top-ranked team is Allen, the nation's No. 3 team. Allen, Skyline and DeSoto could all be in the same bracket when playoffs get underway next month.
