What a way to kick off the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard! While state-wide thunder storms threatened to literally rain on the parade, nothing could damper the spirits of Prattville this evening.
Fortunately the rain held out, and beginning with a parade led by the school marching band, cheerleaders, a motorcycle brigade and police escort, the Lions of Prattville made their way from downtown Prattville to a packed Stanley-Jensen Stadium. With the Alabama Army National Guard, members of the media, local dignitaries (including the Governor of Alabama, Bob Riley), and nearly two thousand fans anticipating the arrival of their championship team, the Lions took the field at around 7 p.m. for one final celebration.
It's safe to say that Prattville coach Bill Clark was the most active person on the field that night, receiving accolade after accolade. At around 7:45, MaxPreps and the Army National Guard took center stage to present the Prattville Lions with the official MaxPreps Tour of Champions Trophy. To a raucous and ecstatic ovation from the team and fans, Coach Clark was handed over the trophy, cementing Prattville's place amongst the greatest teams in America.
And while being nationally ranked at No. 9 was truly a great honor, Prattville certainly knew what they wanted in '07 - to be No. 1!
