7:30 p.m., FridayOne borderline city, two high schools and one big rivalry. This will be the 101st meeting of a series matching rivals on either side of the state line that began in 1912. Texas holds the upper hand in the series, 63-30-7. Arkansas broke a long series losing streak two years ago. Texas prevailed 28-14 last fall.
Longview 0-1 at Marshall 0-1
7:30 p.m., FridayThrow the records out in this rivalry that dates to 1909. This marks the 106th meeting of the east Texas neighbors separated by 20 miles, with Longview enjoying a 57-41-5 advantage. Marshall ended a long losing streak to the Lobos last fall with a 28-25 victory.
Marshall and Longview face off this week.

Dickinson 1-0 at George Ranch (Richmond) 1-0
7 p.m., FridayThe visiting Gators made it to the Region III title game in 6A-DI last fall and opened last week with a 51-14 blowout of Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City).
Myles Lewis rushed for 157 yards and two scores. The Longhorns are in their first season at 6A after winning the 5A-DI state title last fall. In its opener, George Ranch blanked Weslaco 38-0.
Manvel 1-0 at North Shore (Houston) 1-0
7 p.m., ThursdayThe Mavericks, 35-21 winners over Crosby in Week 1, are coming off a season that saw them reach the 6A-DII regional title game.
Kason Martin threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns. North Shore, the defending 6A-DI state title holder, coasted to a 56-19 road victory over Spring Dekaney (Houston).
Bryant Badie accounted for 146 of North Shore's 416 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Liberty (Henderson, Nev.) 1-0 at Westlake (Austin) 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridayTodd Dodge's Chaparrals, fresh off a 32-29 season-opening victory over defending 6A-DII state champion Katy, take on the Nevada invaders. Westlake quarterback
Sam Ehlinger, a Texas commit, threw for 256 yards and rushed for 63 yards, accounting for two touchdowns. He did, however, finish banged up.
East Central (San Antonio) 1-0 at San Benito 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridayBoth teams are expected to challenge for titles in their respective districts. East Central came away with a 40-21 victory at home over San Marcos in Week 1 behind
Jauwan Hall's 242 rushing yards. The Greyhounds of San Benito ran past United (Laredo) 47-21 in their opener. Junior quarterback
Erick Retta threw for 219 yards and three scores.
Lake Travis (Austin) 0-1 at Steele (Cibolo) 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridaySan Antonio area power Steele made an impressive first impression with a 37-7 derailment of Madison (San Antonio). Steele's defense did not allow any points. Lake Travis suffered a rare home defeat in its opener, 35-28 to Steele rival Judson (Converse). The Cavalier defense allowed 515 yards, including 323 on the ground.
Wylie 1-0 at Monterey (Lubbock) 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridayThe Class 4A Bulldogs step up a classification to meet the 5A Plainsmen in Lubbock. Both teams are coming off victorious road openers. Wylie won at Vernon, 15-9, while Monterey was rolling over Odessa, 41-13.
Guyer (Denton) 1-0 at DeSoto (Texas) 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridayDeSoto quarterback
Shawn Robinson transferred from Guyer when his father accepted an assistant coaching job on the Eagles' staff. Guyer did not need to throw in defeating Lake Ridge (Mansfield) 55-35, as
Myron Mason ran for 221 yards and
Noah Cain had 161. Robinson led DeSoto to a 47-13 romp over Jesuit (Dallas), throwing for 268 yards and two scores.
Springlake-Earth (Earth) 1-0 at Clarendon 1-0
7:30 p.m., FridayBoth Class 2A teams posted shutout victories in Week 1. Springlake-Earth's Wolverines blanked Vega 20-0 while the Broncos of Clarendon went on the road to take down Shamrock, 22-0.
