SABINAL, Texas -
Sabinal (Texas) pulled away early with 27 points in the first quarter to open up a 27-point lead, paving the way to a 55-6 victory over Pettus (Texas) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Jon Moore in the first quarter, the Yellowjackets were up 49-0 at the half.
Each side put up six points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 49.
Pettus' only touchdown came on an 18-yard pass in the third quarter.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the War Eagles took, 34-6.
Sabinal (2-1) goes up against Brooks Academy of Science & Engineering in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Pettus (1-2) locks horns with Ben Bolt also in a non-conference game.
