There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Dakota's 33 - 0 win over Utica Ford last week had a lot to do with the leadership of sophomore De'javion Stepney. Stepney ran for 169 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Stepney as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Belleville (9th in the power rankings) and Fordson (24th). Belleville had just enough, edging out Fordson 29 - 26. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for Belleville after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Lapeer last week (their 4th in a row). It blew past Grand Blanc 42 - 10. Lapeer made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. Its success was rewarded with a 26-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Davison (18th in the power rankings) and De La Salle Collegiate (7th). This will be the second home game in a row for Davison. It and De La Salle Collegiate can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
