After having trouble last week, things aren't likely to get any easier for Lingleville (3-5). This Friday at 7:30 PM, it faces Gorman (5-4). Gorman will be looking to take advantage of a struggling Lingleville defense that has allowed an average of 52 points per game.
After flying high the game before (60 points), Lingleville faltered in its previous match. It simply didn't have it last week, losing 48 - 0 to May. Even though the blowout was expected (Lingleville is far behind in the MaxPreps national rankings), the defeat still stung.
Meanwhile, Gorman has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling five) after its most recent game. The final score between it and Gordon last week was a 52 - 6 blowout in Gorman's favor. With four TDs, senior Trent Padron was a significant factor in the success. This also marked the 4th consecutive game in which Padron rushed for 100+ yards. Additional support came from junior Bryce Petree, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 15 tackles.
The last time they met, the final might easily have been mistaken for a basketball score. Gorman won 64 - 54. Will Lingleville avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.
