The Mater Dei-Centennial matchup provided two of the top performances of the week with Matt Barkley of Mater Dei throwing for 365 yards in the 51-37 win and Centennial's Ryan Bass rushing for 326 yards. Those are just some of California's Top Performances of the Week.
Passing
Corey Nielsen, Gahr of Cerritos, had five touchdown passes and completed 16 of 28 passes for a season best 455 yards in a 40-7 win over Granite Hills.
Tanner Rust, El Capitan, completed 16 of 27 passes for 366 yards and two scores in a 52-33 win over Valhalla. Rust has 19 TD passes and just four interceptions on the season.
Jamie McGee, Sage Hill, bounced back from his lowest total of the season (149 yards) two weeks ago to throw for 279 yards (13 of 21) and four touchdowns in a 38-18 win over Animo. For his career, McGee, a starter since his freshman season, has 388 completions in 660 attempts for 6,505 yards and 72 touchdowns.
Matt Barkley, Mater Dei, established himself as one of the leading player of the year candidates in California with a 365-yard effort (21 of 32) in a 51-37 victory over Centennial. Barkley has thrown for 19 touchdowns on the season and just three interceptions in leading the Monarchs to the top ranking in California by MaxPreps.com.
Andy Magee, Chadwick, added to his state-leading touchdowns totals with seven TD tosses in a 60-28 win over Linfield Christian. He completed 29 of 37 passes for 423 yards. He has 27 touchdown passes for the year.
Jamie Jensen, Gilroy, led the Mustangs to a 47-0 win over Alvarez by completing 14 of 19 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns.
Chase Rettig, La Salle, had a monster night in a 52-31 loss to Temple City by completing 22 of 38 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns.
Cary Grossart, Folsom, saw his run of 300-yard games end at four, but still threw for 221 yards (16 of 26) and two touchdowns in a 35-28 loss to Oakmont.
Jesse Lownsbury, Yosemite, paced the Badgers with 348 yards while completing 33 of 44 passes in a 32-21 loss to Washington Union.
Brendan Chambers, Saddleback Valley Christian, led the Warriors to a 50-0 win over California School for the Deaf by completing 16 of 21 passes for 253 yards and five touchdowns.
Dylan Morrow, Mission Prep, had his best game of the season by completing 17 of 25 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns in a 33-14 win over Laton.
Darius Banks, Culver City, last year's state yardage leader threw for 225 yards while completing 17 of 33 passes in a 38-28 win over Redondo. He also had 90 yards rushing on 10 attempts.
David Glass, Analy, completed 19 of 29 passes for 214 yards and two scores in a 35-21 loss to Casa Grande.
Robert Fuller, Arroyo Valley, fell to Moreno Valley in a thriller, 37-34, while completing 19 of 35 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns.
Kramer Hagan, Capital, led the Cougars to a 41-28 win over San Juan by completing 11 of 15 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Hagan has thrown for over 200 yards in each of the first five games of the season.
Jordan Wynn, Oceanside, was nearly perfect in a 56-25 win over Torrey Pines as he completed 14 of 15 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown.
Kevin Ramay, Grace Brethren, attempted 51 passes, completed 25, for 286 yards and two scores in a 37-20 loss to West Ranch.
Marcus Sanchez, Camarillo, came up big in a 30-26 win over Oak Park by completing 23 of 31 passes for 372 yards and four scores.
Drew McAllister, Monte Vista, had 26 completions in 42 attempts for 231 yards in a 19-13 loss to California.
Brett Broderson, Redwood, fell 51-40 to Tulare in a high-scoring affair while completing 17 of 28 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns.
Jesse Diaz, Roosevelt, completed 25 of 32 passes for a season-high 369 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-37 loss to South East.
Collin Ramirez, Red Bluff, completed 12 of 24 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-27 loss to Chico.
Ebahn Feathers, Washington Union, had a huge offensive night by rushing 21 times for 105 yards and two scores and completing 16 of 27 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns.
Cory Harms, Healdsburg, led the Greyhounds to a 23-19 win over Windsor by completing 22 of 43 passes for 253 yards and two scores.
Rushing
Ryan Bass, Centennial, had his best night of the season with 326 yards on 43 carries with four touchdowns in a 51-37 loss to Mater Dei.
Donald Green, Compton, ran 19 times for 219 yards and three scores in a 45-20 win over Wilson.
Jorge Chaidez, Bell-Jeff, went over 200 yards for the fourth time this year with 223 yards on 27 carries in a 37-30 win over Kern Valley.
Kenjon Barner, Notre Dame Riverside, had another huge game, rushing for 251 yards on 51 carries with four touchdowns in a 35-27 loss to Big Bear. Barner has 596 yards on 100 carries in his past two games.
Therman McGowan, Santa Rosa, led the Panthers to a 33-14 win over Carrillo with 243 yards on 25 carries and four touchdowns.
Deonte Williams, Pleasant Grove, led the Eagles in a close 7-0 win over Chavez with 267 yards on 30 carries.
Ricky Seale, Escondido, carried 31 times for 220 yards in a 24-21 loss to Ramona.
Ray Holley, El Modena, paced the Vanguards to a 27-17 win over Fullerton with 209 yards rushing on 26 carries with three touchdowns.
Josh Hawkins, Canyon of Anaheim, led the Comanches with 304 yards on 33 carries, including a 93-yard touchdown run in a 28-13 win over Laguna Hills. He also has TD runs of 90 and 97 on the season.
Terrance Dailey, Vacaville, had his best outing of the season with 220 yards on 20 carries and five touchdowns in a 56-14 win over Davis.
Raymond Juarez, Roosevelt, led the Rough Riders to a 37-0 win over Madera South with 272 yards on 24 carries and four touchdowns.
Rap Dantic, Magnolia, cruised for 241 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns in a 56-36 win over Loara.
Patrone Wood, Ygnacio Valley, ran for 281 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns in a 55-36 win over Freedom.
Christopher Polk, Redlands East Valley, ran 11 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-0 win over Yucaipa.
Nick Kalpin, Los Gatos, led the Wildcats to a 49-21 win over Saratoga with 240 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns.
Jontell Reedom, Tulare Union, paced the Redskins to a 51-40 win over Redwood with 224 yards on 41 carries and two scores.
Receiving
Nick Witte, Sage Hill, caught six passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns in 38-18 win over Animo.
Cole McKenzie, Red Bluff, pulled in eight passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-27 loss to Chico.
