Jacksonville and Western Alamance face off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Jacksonville has flexed its offensive muscles in its last six matchups, so Western Alamance has a real workout ahead of it.
Jacksonville's encounter with Northside - Jacksonville two weeks ago was a 34-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Jacksonville won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Terry Sanford 42 - 41. The outcome wasn't too surprising considering that Jacksonville is 26 spots ahead in the MaxPreps state rankings, but it was certainly a bit tighter than anticipated.
Meanwhile, Western Alamance can now show off 12 landslide victories after its most recent game. It had all the answers against Fike last week, winning 45 - 14. Senior Christian Daniels was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he earned one touchdown and 64 yards rushing the ball). This sound performance was nothing new for Daniels, who has been a rock for Western Alamance in the past ten games. Senior Keontae Anilus banked an additional two TDs for the team.
Their wins bumped Jacksonville to 11-2 and Western Alamance to 13-0. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
