Iredell has had better days, to say the least.
Milford delivered the team a stinging 74 - 38 defeat. It was a playoff game, so the loss was no doubt an especially dispiriting one for Iredell.
Milford's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 44 points in the first half. That put it at a 44 - 22 advantage. Its success only continued in the second half, where it racked up an additional 30 points.
Milford can chalk up much of its success to the efforts of junior Taron Smith, who ran for 270 yards and also punched in six touchdowns.
Iredell's record fell to 11-3 after the loss. The win bumped Milford's record up to 14-0.
The end of the season is closing in, but Milford is still looking to squeeze in a victory in its upcoming game. Milford is set to face off against Strawn in a playoff match this Thursday. Like Milford, Strawn is also ranked highly in the MaxPreps state standings, so the team can expect a competitive contest.
