This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. A special shoutout goes to St. John Bosco's junior DJ Uiagalelei, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Rancho Verde's 40 - 28 win over Tesoro last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Xavier Ugorji. Ugorji rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns. That performance made Ugorji one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
The battle between Centennial (ranked 3rd in the power rankings) and Orange Lutheran (ranked 15th) turned out to be a somewhat underwhelming competition. Centennial blew past Orange Lutheran 35 - 7. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Centennial as the clear winner.
No Stoppin 'Em
Sierra Canyon has been an offensive powerhouse for five straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It took its contest against Roosevelt by a conclusive 55 - 27 score. Senior Ej Gable deserves a lot of the credit as he earned three touchdowns and 214 yards rushing the ball. At 82 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Mission Viejo (6th in the power rankings) and Mater Dei (2nd). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. Mater Dei and Mission Viejo can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
